The Project Begins

The "Project" Begins - this pathetic looking excuse for a hole is the product of almost 4 hours of sweat and cursing with a pick and shovel.

Purty, ain't it? Obviously, I opted to go with something a bit more "beefy". Enter the tool rental company and the FIRST front-end loader (aka Bobcat).

It ran for about an hour when I noticed something amiss :)

Notice anything wrong with this picture?

How 'bout a closer look. Notice anything now? Yep, the lug nuts are in place, yet the wheel has a distinctly drunken look, don't it? The axle snapped...

1 phone call and 2 hours later, the rental company brought me something a wee bit better. As a note, the company was great - no hassles, no questions and they even started my 8-hr rental clock over :)

This is what I had accomplished when the axle snapped.

Here's the replacement! Sweet! Man, that thing has some oomph to it :)

This is what I managed to accomplish by the end of Saturday, with the switch taking up some time.

I also managed to accomplish this... yep, that's my phone line - cut clean in two. Now, how to fix that on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend?

Anyway, this is the finished product of 2 days toil (8 hours of rental time).

Yep, you can still see the wounded beast sitting behind the house.. perhaps it's biding its time, lurking in wait...

More of the finished product.

And the PHONE LINE REPAIRED! I actually think this is the most exciting thing to happen this weekend - Windstream actually came out and repaired the line on a Sunday afternoon! Sweet!
